(expected graduation date: May 2009)
I am currently finishing up my first year of graduate school in Rhetoric and Writing Studies. My interests are in professional communication, web writing, and education. Since 2008, I am the web content developer and science writer for CSCI. My responsibilities include updating web content for the CSCI and Digital Fish Library (DFL) web sites. This includes organizing images and species and family accounts of scanned specimen in the Digital Fish Library database and posting them on the DFL web site. I also work closely with our web developer, Matt, on site design and layout, and also with our lab manager, Rachel, on tracking scanned fishes in the DFL database.
Projects
Upcoming DFL projects will include a DFL 101 Podcast Series of short 5-10 minute videos on dissecting shark brains, scanning fishes using MR technology, using AFNI Simulation Diffusion Plugin to analyze and visualize diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in 3-D and other research- and educational-related topics. We will also integrate a DFL glossary with comprehensive definition of scientific terminologies.
